The King of the Air Plants! Bold, showy plants, although the species name refers to the delicate, yellowish, pastel tones of the floral bracts.

It is stemless, and in its natural habitat, can grow up to 70cm to 1m high including the inflorescence. Our nursery grown plants are quite special, the leaves are pale lavender grey, about 2cm (1in.) wide, somewhat curved at the tip. When it flowers the leaves are surpassed by the stamens, which are 8.5cm long and lavender in the upper part.
It likes very bright and sunny conditions. For best results only water by spraying, or lightly misting. A remarkable species. In winter months is best to keep it in a bright, cool place (10 – 15 degrees C). Water it about 2 times a month, and let it dry completely between waterings.
