The mature rosettes, with their hard stiff leaves, measure 5 – 8 cm in diameter. At its base it occasionally develops several rosette offshoots which can be removed when they reach half the size of the mother plant, or left to form an interesting plant. In nature, the plants grow in large groupings that literally encircle tree branches.   The flowers are blue and burst out of an orange bract. As it is slow growing, it is one of the more expensive varieties, but very long lived and easy to care for. Prized by collectors, and lovers of ‘neat’ plants alike.   It requires bright, sunny and dry conditions.  A small, but recommended species.
